Ruth Gitto

I am left-handed which may explain why my two creative passions are photography and computers. Both allow me to express my artistic side, and together they offer a symphony of creativity I would otherwise never achieve.

My love of photography is lodged in my DNA - put there by my dad, John H. Popper, who was a wonderful photographer. I started photographing when I was eight years old, and have never stopped. He introduced me to the works of Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier Bresson, Eugene Smith, to name just a few.

From 1963 to 1979 I owned a camera store on Long Island. In 1979 I sold the store, and then spent a number of years working in the Audio Visual Industry and the Professional Broadcast Video Industry, utilizing my photographic background. I purchased my first digital single lens reflex in 2005. I then attended a workshop on digital Photography at the Santa Fe Workshop, given by Sean Duggan. This turned out to be the beginning of the end of denying my passion for photography. After completing the workshop I decided I wanted to dedicate myself to sharing, not only my vision, but that of my dad's, John H. Popper.
